NYC Management

Hanging out freezing cold in the Sony Plaza NYC

I’ve met a lot of great people over the past weeks, months, years of fighting to make something out of this music industry.  Some are great and really help out, others not so much.  It’s cool, no hard feelings.  Some guys are just better at the business than others.  You move on.

I like to work with people who are great at the business.  I work pretty hard 7 days a week and I like to surround myself with those who enjoy doing the same thing (you have to remember, I live for this stuff and love my job, so I do enjoy working all the time).  It’s been a slow process of weeding out people but I’ve put together a great team.

The next step is management.  That old saying of “it’s not what you know, but who you know”.  I remember trading stories with Meek Mill about the ridiculous A&R meetings we’ve both had in our time, and he was telling me about one guy in particular who wasn’t interested in his stuff.  A few months later Meek walked back into that same office and played the same songs for that same guy, but this time he had Rick Ross standing next to him.  Meek got his deal.

I’m teaming up with the necessary people to make those walk-in-and-sign meetings happen.  I’ve been up in NYC every other day for the past couple of weeks — gametime is almost here.
